What is the Internet?

The internet is a very complex place that has been growing over time. This network is capable of connecting people from all over the world. There is a single internet with multiple connections and networks coming off of it. People are able to share and receive information as well as other goods and services. Anything that goes online would be considered the internet. The internet is capable of making people both smart and..well…not so smart. When used properly, people can learn about anything and everything they so desire to learn about. However, people can also look up answers or responses to things without actually having to think about it. A blogger, Bruce Friedman, talks about his altered mental state thanks to the internet, “I have lost the ability to read a longish article” (Is Google Making Us Stupid?). It needs to be kept in mind that the internet is not perfect. Many people believe it always has the exact answers. That is not always true. Real human experience sometimes knows more (Does the Internet Make You Smarter). Just remember that the internet can be a great tool for people all across the world, but it needs to be that. A tool. Not your entire lifeline.
